ASSESSMENT OF PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
- Conformity assessment by the
Notified Body No. 1023 according to the requirements of the Council Directive
89/686/EEC, laying down the technical requirements for personal protective equipment
Assessment of PPE of the first category
Conformity assessment by the manufacturer or importer is sufficient for simple personal
protective equipment of the first category. They can ask an accredited testing facility
or certification body to perform and interpret tests. The Notified Body (NB)
does not perform such interpretation.
Assessment of PPE of the second and third category
For the PPE of the second category, the manufacturer or importer shall ensure
that assessment of conformity of the type of the personal protective equipment is
conducted by EC type examination by the Notified Body
prior to serial production and introduction to the market.
For the PPE of the third category, the manufacturer or importer shall ensure that
EC type examination is conducted by the Notified Body
similarly as for the PPE of the second category, moreover they shall ensure
periodical inspections of produced personal protective equipment.

- Granting licences for the voluntary certification mark
"ITC certified quality"
ITC grants a license for the use of the quality mark, which
is granted to the products where high standard of safety and quality parameters
has been proved by certifi cation and where meeting the prerequisites of the
producer for continuous quality compliance has been proved through inspection visits.

Institute for Testing and Certification, a joint-stock company is authorized by
the decision of UNMZ (Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing) as the
Notified Body No. 1023 for conformity assessment
