Analytical Laboratory

ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY

The laboratory is completely equipped with an analytical instrumentation attended by skilled staff. The assessment of quality, purity, identity and other characteristics of organic and inorganic chemicals , its mixtures, raw materials and additives can be performed there. The employees of laboratory have rich experience especially in the field of assessment of polymers (plastics, elastomers and thermosetic resins), rubber chemicals, modifiers, plasticizers and other processing additives for plastics and rubbers.

MATERIAL ANALYSIS

The laboratory conducts elementary analysis of unknown substances, mixtures and complex samples. The common task is an identification of organic and/or inorganic substances like polymers, mixtures, varnishes, alloys, powders, chemicals, impurities, etc. The sophisticated instrumentation provides for the analysis of rocks, minerals, ores and secondary raw materials as well as the qualitative analysis and a determination of elements in iron, steels and non-ferrous alloys (cast iron, constructional and stainless steel, brass, bronze, tin solder) and assessment of precious metals (purity of technical silver, title of gold in carats).

ASSESSMENT OF THE PACKAGING

The laboratory conducts routinely the complete assessment of packaging and packaging materials according to the Czech Law No. 477/2001 Coll. A variety of tests and services covers the identification of the critical fields in the process of prevention by source reduction according to standard EN 1342, assessment of a system of multiple use of packaging according to standard EN 13429 and assessment of 4 sets of recycling criteria according to EN 13430.
Following determinations are provided in the case of packaging waste suitable for an energy recovery process

	calorific value, heating power, necessary energy and heat gain
	identification of the packaging material
	identification of fillers and determination of ash content and its chemical composition

The laboratory is in specific cases able to conduct highly sophisticated tests of biodegradable packaging according to standard EN 13432 (determination of volatile solids, total biodegradability, content of toxic pollutants in a decomposition products, quality assessment and ecotoxicity of the produced compost, determination of the heavy metals content).

ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS

Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic together with the Czech Ministry of Health issued to ITC the Certificate of Professional Competency. The Certificate entitles the holder to assess the impacts of constructions, activities and technologies on environment and to elaborate the appropriate reports.
ITC is also authorized by the Czech Environmental Inspection to the emission measurement of wide range of organic compounds.
The ITC can ensure in specific areas the following activities:

Protection of air quality

	measurement of the pollutant's content in emissions and in outdoor and indoor air
	consultation and engineering related to innovation and operation of the low-impact technologies and/or best available technologies BAT
	selection, testing and optimisation of equipments for waste-gases purification
	assessing of odours
	elaboration of pollutants prognosis pursuant to their diffusion and sources inventory

Water pollution protection:

	survey of a ground water, percolatic and surface water, drinking water, communal and industrial wastewater according to relevant directives, decrees and orders
	application of the top quality up-to-date analytical methods
	testing of the ecotoxicity
	testing of the washing powders biodegradability and determination of phosphates and tensides content
	support and consultation at an implementation of new technologies reducing quantity and pollution level of the wastewater

Soil conservation:

	survey of the sewage sludge originating from municipal and/or industrial sewage plants and assessment of their usability in agriculture (from viewpoint of nutrients, heavy metals and other organic and inorganic pollutants content)
	soil samples analysis
	analysis and consultation in the process of soil decontamination or contaminated soil removal

Consultancy at the solution of states of emergency and their prevention:

	description of equipments, procedures, used and emitted substances (current situation)
	description of risk sources and equipment parts significant from viewpoint of safety aspects
	description of prerequisites of accident origination
	explanation of the measures to accident prevention
	data about the accident effects and impacts
	description of actions and measures decreasing the accident effects
	costs analysis of supposed accident results liquidation

Checking of chemical substances and formulations:

	identification of the chemical composition of the complex mixtures of organic substances
	identification of herbicides and pesticides
	identification of organic substances which are dangerous for environment (PCB, PAH, pesticides, toxic elements) and determination of their trace amounts in environment
	analysis of air, soil and water samples
	chromatographic analysis of a solvent systems

Waste management ? old landfills:

	incumbency of authorized workplace for waste analysis and assessment
	waste categorisation, eventually change of the waste category
	determination of waste classes based on their leachability
	test of environmental toleration and behaviour of waste sediments
	development of methods for prevention of waste occurrence, methods for decreasing of their volume and/or methods of waste utilisation or recovery
	assistance in a selection of waste disposal methods or waste removal technologies
	assessment of old landfill sites (groundwater survey, soil and water quality monitoring)

Environmental impact assessment of products, technologies and constructions

	product certification
	environmental marking of products
	consultation about assessment of new technologies
	expert's assessment of new constructions and buildings
	consultancy regarding the application of word-recognised processes in implementation of environmental management systems

The ITC client would apply for services using the appropriate application forms however he would write his own common order as well.
We would like to offer in above mentioned areas the complete services according to the current standards EN, ISO, CSN, …, but we are still able to adapt the tests according to customer's requests.
